 "Visit my site!" hearing this more than a decade ago it literally means visiting an actual location. A decade later it would mean visiting a website. Doing business and putting up a store on site is a typical situation among businessmen, but with technological innovation a new wave of doing business has arrived. There are of course different ways in creating an effective website for online businesses. To help understand what online business is about, delve into its definition first. Online business is commonly referred to as electronic commerce. According to wikipedia, Electronic Commerce (also referred to as EC, e-commerce or ecommerce) consists primarily of the distributing, buying, selling, marketing, and servicing of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. The term EC or E-commerce is known amongst businessmen. Visit and do business on websites. With so many businesses turning to e-commerce, there is a high rate of competition. Some of the tips that can help create an effective online business website are as follows: (1) provide a good website, (2) exceed competitor's offer, and (3) present good customer service.

In providing a good website, consider its content. Make sure that everything relevant to the knowledge of visitors is present. Information provided to visitors should be clear, precise and well-explained. No grammatical or typo errors should be seen. Resolution of photos in the website must be pleasing to the visitor's eyes. Jason Baer, senior director of Mighty Interactive an Internet consulting company that's been advising e-commerce businesses since 1994 said "You don't have that tactical experience. You don't have an auditory experience. You really don't have an olfactory experience. All you've got is your eyes, unlike in a store. So the value proposition is really incorporated in that photograph." Overall appearance of a website is an important trait of a good website. In this way it can retain to the visitor's mind.

Exceeding competitor's offer is actually studying what competitors have against what other company websites. Give enough time researching about competitors. Know what to have and what not to have in a website. It is always safe to compare and contrast. In addition, consider what Carlos Manalo, a user experience manager at the Chicago-based interactive consulting agency Whittmanhart said "E-commerce companies should always be evaluating their site, looking out for shifts and patterns in things like conversion rates, average order value, number of visitors, as well as what design and e-commerce trends are out there." Being updated about technology is an important part when engaged in E-commerce.

In any business, presenting good customer service is a known fact. Enhancing customer service through websites is also attainable. Good customer service through websites may pertain to all means of communication: feedbacks, forums, blogs, livechats, IM, and navigation for visitors. Customer's inquiry should always be taken care at their own convenience. Manalo also said "Really listen and watch what your customers are doing. Don't be afraid to talk to them. They will give you some of the best advice and some of the best ideas out there. If you can craft a better experience for your customers, they'll reward you with their pocketbooks." Basically, it is important to communicate with customers or visitors.

Be able to make visitor's feel their value and be able to feel the websites value through an effective e-commerce website. Help visitors acquire more knowledge through the website and help them share their thoughts. Learn from customers and let visitors learn from websites. Considering these three tips (1) provide a good website, (2) exceed competitor's offer, and (3) present good customer service can help create an effective ecommerce website.
